Impressive remains of a glassworks established in 1740, and one of the earliest surviving glass cones in the country. The works made a variety of glass including bottles and window panes. It stayed in production until around 1901.

This 115ft colum can be viewed from Admirals Crest , off Upper Wortley Road, Rotherham. The monument was completed in 1781 for Charles, 2nd Marquis of Rockingham, who lived at nearby Wentworth Woodhouse.
