We arrived yesterday from Cusco into Lima. This was the first time one of our flights has been delayed. Originally the flight was on time but then we sat on the plane for an hour waiting for something or other.
A plane takes off at Cusco airport.
After the short one hour flight we arrived in Lima. First impressions are: chaos on the roads!! There’s so much hooting from cars and also the air is quite polluted with a smoggy haize in the air.
We are staying in the Miraflores area which is very nice and slightly safer than other parts of Lima.
Flowers in Miraflores.
In the evening we went to a Peruvian restaurant where we tried the delicious local Ceviche (trout with onions and lemon juice) and a Saltado which is strips of meat with spices, vegetables and home made french fries. Very nice!!!
Today we visited more of the Miraflores area including the beach, parks and shops.
We went to Parque del Amor or the Park of Love where this statue of a couple kissing can be found.
On the beach in December!!.
The beach has a lot of surfers and the front is lined with surf schools and hire shops.
Surfs up dude!!
Coincidentally, on the way up from the beach to the shopping centre we met the Basque people that we met on the Inca Trail. It really is such a small world!
What a coincidence! From left to right: Marisa, Koldo, Me, Santiago & Kontxi

Lima has really ambraced Christmas with trees like this springing up everywhere!
Now, we are preparing our baggage before our busiest day of flying tomorrow. We are flying with budget airline Spirit Air from Lima to New York and the stop over in Fort Lauderdale is 6 hours. Next time we blog will probably be Monday in Manhattan!
See you then!!
Dad y yo estamos muertos de envidia.
