The final day of the W Trek and today’s 8 and a half hour hike would lead us to the Mirador Las Torres or the Towers Lookout.
The scenery was spectacular and we were all in good spirits, particularly as the weather was so nice.
Blue skys, rivers and mountains…I could never get bored of these views.
Walking above the valley.
Steady as we go
Too cold for a paddle unfortunately
This tree was twisted by the high winds as it grew.
Nearly there! Just above the ridge were the towers.
Jackie having a quick break on the rock.
We found this day the hardest as there were so many uphill sections. The reward was worth it though. We finally climbed over the final ridge and before us were the three granite monoliths towering above a turquoise lake. It was spectacular and a great way to end the W Treck.
The weather was so nice we stayed at the lookout point for about 45 minutes eating lunch and taking pictures.
We made it! The Towers above the beautiful lake were an amazing reward. The huge Central Tower was first climbed by Chris Bonnington in 1963.
What a beautiful view! Heidi looks nice too
.
The pictures don’t do any of it justice.
Group shot in the wind.
