Our second day in Cusco and although we were feeling fine and we slept well, we still took it easy as it takes a few days to fully acclimatise.
We ventured into the town centre to the Plaza De Armas, tha main sqaure in Cusco.
Cathedral (and pigeons) in the main square Plaza De Armas
A protest took place by civil construction workers whislt we were there. Very noisy, but all peaceful.
The polie were present just in case
We sat relaxing in the warm sunshine (sorry those stuck in snow) and within a few minutes we had all sorts of things being sold to us.
Me and Felipa, who managed to charm us into buying some cool Inca bracelets.
We’ve noticed its quite a theme here. When ever you are in any of the tourist areas you will get bombarded with offers for tours, ‘free tourist information’, massages, paintings, finger puppets, photos with a baby llama (llama lamb?), hats, scarves, gloves, you name it someone will sell it to you.
Sometimes its a small boy or girl that smiles really sweetly and has puppy dog eyes, its so hard to say no.
Even so, Cusco is a fascinating city built from a mix of Inca and European influences. The people are really friendly and the food is soooooo tasty! Everything is so cheap too.
A great city to be in and we can’t wait to do more exploring in the next few days.

Sounds like you guys did it the right way – we arrived in Cusco in the afternoon and left to do the Inca Trail early the next morning. Wasn’t the best idea!
Hey Rachel!!! Wow, your head must have been pounding! Did you not get altitude sickness at all? x x x x
Yep!! Specially on the second day up to dead woman’s pass or whatever its called! Definition of torture! Plus I had a cold. Pictures are amazing though – looks like you guys had a really awesome time. Not jealous in the slightest!
